My Story

Jason Headshot.jpeg

Since 2009, I’ve served as pastor of Rock Mountain Lakes Baptist Church in McCalla, Alabama. My days are full with preaching and shepherding God’s people, but I’ve also long carried a desire to extend the reach of the gospel through writing, music, and podcasting. Over the years, I’ve published updated editions of Jonathan Edwards’ works, giving his older language fresh clarity for today’s readers. I’ve also written three original books—Contend, Drowning Swine, and Law and Grace.

Music has been part of me for as long as I can remember. In college, I played bass in a band and loved every minute of it. That’s when I started writing songs. Paul Simon’s style inspired me, but I wanted to write from a distinctly Christian worldview—songs that consciously glorify God. After college, I married Page, and many of my songs were for her and our kids.

Still, I ran into obstacles. I love singing, but I’m not much of a singer. I can match pitches, but my voice never developed beyond that. Recording was another hurdle—good equipment was too expensive, and it seemed unlikely my songs would ever reach an audience. So music mostly stayed on the shelf, aside from helping lead worship at church.

Then came AI. These tools opened the door for me to create high-quality, polished recordings efficiently, finally giving life to musical ideas that had been locked away for decades. Many of those songs are now available here.

Yes, I use AI to create music. That’s controversial, and I understand why. But I try to use it rightly. First, I’m upfront about it. Second, I use it with purpose—to produce meaningful music, not fluff. And third, I aim to glorify God through the gospel of Christ in every song.

Alongside writing and music, I host a podcast called Rock Mountain Live. All past episodes are archived here as well.

I’m married to Page, who also loves making music. She even has her own album, Page’s Quips and Phrases, which you’ll find here too—it’s full of great songs. Together, we’re blessed with five wonderful kids.
